Grad divova u srcu Istre- Motovun ❤️

English version:
What to say about the interior of Istria?
So far, we have simply been delighted. The town of Motovun is next in line. You’ve probably all heard of him before. It hosts film festivals that bring tourists from different parts of the world. Motovun is located on a hill 277 meters high. Its main square is located within its walls, and as many as 1,052 stairs lead to the main square. The main square is dominated by the parish church of St. Stjepana with a bell tower that is 27 meters high. The Mirna Valley is covered with a kilometer of Motovun forest. Motovun as a city abounds with many cultural features. Let's start with its walls. A tour of the city walls is charged and tickets can be purchased at the Aura Distillery. Walking through the walls you can enjoy the perfect view of the landscape. The ticket includes a visit to the Gallery "Five Towers" and a tour of the walls. Inside the walls are a couple of locations you must see. First of all, it is the Gallery, which is modernly equipped and contains the perfect backdrop for viewing works of art. Then, you have the Outdoor Gallery, binoculars, and a very interesting Photo point.Entrance to the town of Motovun is free and includes squares, loggias, souvenir shops, cafes and restaurants. Like most cities, the city of Motovun has its main city gate located from the lower square of the citadel, and is the oldest part of the city. A solid gate with a high tower in the 16th century represented the safety of the citizens and prevented the conqueror from entering the city.Church of St. Stjepana - It was built from 1580 to 1641. The bell tower next to the church is 27 meters high, and in history it served as the main tower and observatory. Today the bell tower dominates the whole landscape. What you will see at the very entrance to the town of Motovun is its tower. This tower represents the so-called New Gate. It is connected to the walls of the citadel, but also to the communal palace. Throughout history, the tower had strong wooden gates, additional protection is provided by the defenders of the city who are from the tower above the door on enemy groceries, and hot oil. The communal palace is the best preserved romantic public building in Istria, but also in Croatia.and at the end we left one famous legend associated with the town of Motovun and that is the legend of the giant Veli Joža. Most people have heard of Veli Joža in Vladimir Nazor's novel. Veli Joža belonged to the people of Motovun, who did not treat him nicely, and the most that the giant could do to them after they did him any harm was to shake the Motovun bell tower. One day he was sent to Venice, so on the ship he met the galleon Elijah, who conveyed to him the meaning of freedom. Galija disappeared in the storm, Jože escaped, and after swimming on the Istrian coast, he looked for other giants, persuading them to rebel. This is what they eventually did, but the dwarves managed to quarrel and divide them by mixing them with gold and wine. They all returned as servants to their cities, except Veli Jože, who was waiting in the mountains for a better moment to achieve freedom.
